This is Anna Maria. Her parents sold her as a slave to a family in a village just outside of Managua. Anna lives in this home all alone. The people who bought Anna abandoned this home but did not want to lose it to squatters. So they put Anna in here. Her days are spent begging on the streets. I met Anna while on a visit to the village. She is young, alone, and uneducated, and the prey of bad people. You may think that her story is unusual, but in third world countries her story is quite common.
