They didn’t care so much about what I was doing but were more interested why I would come

Often when I am doing work in a rural community, in what seems like the middle of nowhere, peoples first question is not what but why.  I have come to understand that  what they are really saying is that they care more about why I have showed up to help …

I am glad I didn’t win the lottery because I would have missed out on all these struggles/blessings

I have had some great challenges in my life.  You don’t grow up in a family with close to 3o brothers and sisters without encountering your share of challenges.  Today, at my gym Good Life I ran into a friend who was telling me a story about a colleague who …

Eeyore and Winnie the Pooh would not be complete without a Tigger in their lives

Before I sent out this blog I asked my wife to review it.  She laughed when I told her I thought to some degree I was a cross between Eeyore and Winnie. She said, “You are a Tigger on Red Bull.”  I think she was eluding to my energy level, …

Pessimism is an addiction that threatens to kills the visionary in me

My daughter Lauryn and I try at least once a month to take off on a Saturday morning and go for a drive in the country and talk about life and its ups and downs.  Today we talked about two things; one is finding the will and discipline to keep …

How would Robin Hood react if the poor start robbing him? Does he stop serving them?

Serving others should be a priority over serving ourselves; I know, this is much easier said than done.  I remember one of the first times I was robbed by the poor.  I had been asked almost begged by friends to open up an office in Managua, Nicaragua.  They said that …

  • About Vince

I have spent the greater part of my 25 years of vocation as a small business entrepreneur. The last 15 years have been spent as well as consultant for the C&MA and most recently as the International Director of a micro-finance charity I founded in Latin America. My experiences include surviving a plane crash in the jungles of Papua to being lost in the rain forest of Ecuador. My work has demanded my travel and involvement in a number of cultures and countries and I would describe my present situation as that of a third-culture-executive.
